I’ve spoken at length about the left’s desperate yearning to take away your guns and the various bills they have introduced which they craft in such a way to effectively nullify the second amendment. Last session, H.R. 5717 introduced by Rep. Hank “Guam might capsize” Johnson was the most comprehensive as it included every gun control wish list item that leftists dream of. This session, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee has introduced a pair of bills that will also nullify the second amendment if passed. Whereas Hank Johnson’s bill was more of a time-release capsule designed to wipe out gun ownership over time, one of Jackson Lee’s bills goes right for the jugular and aims to wipe out legal gun ownership by making every legal gun owner a felon with the stroke of President Biden’s pen.
There are several onerous provisions is this bill, HR 127: The Sabika Sheikh Firearm Licensing and Registration Act. Perhaps the most important one is one that Second Amendment Advocates have been fighting against for years. This bill creates a national gun registry. If this bill were to become law, it will require every gun owner to submit to the government, the make, model, and serial number of every gun they own, when and where they were purchased and where they are stored. I don’t really need to go over the implications of the government having this information do I? Good. But not only will federal, state and local governments have access to this information, but it will be in a database that is accessible to the general public. That was not a typo. Don’t believe me? You can read it here. The general public is the first group listed when it outlines who has access to this information. The general public will have access to find out how many guns you have, what they are and where you keep them. Not only is it a shopping list for scumbags, but employers can search this database and you could lose a job or be denied any number of services because you own guns. But we’re just getting started.
“Shall Not Be Infringed”
Not only will it will require you to tell the government what firearms you own, it will require you to obtain a license in order to own them and purchase more. When the government requires you to have a license for anything, it is no longer a right, but a privilege that can be revoked at any time, for any reason. Part of the licensing procedure outlined in this bill is that someone petitioning the government for permission to exercise their second amendment “privilege” will have to undergo a psychological evaluation. This evaluation not only includes interviews with the person seeking the license, but members of the person’s household, spouse, two other family members and former spouses. So a person who likely hates the fact that you even breathe, could tell this psychologist that you abused them, are a drug addict, a child molester or any number of lies in order to stick it to you. The psychologist conducting this evaluation has to be approved by the government, so what do you think the chances are that any of these people will own guns or respect the constitution in general or the second amendment in particular? I would say the chances are pretty slim, so your right to keep and bear arms under this proposed bill will be subject to approval by someone who speaks to the people who hate your guts and probably thinks that owning guns or wanting to own them is a form of mental illness.
Of course, H.R. 127 will also ban “Military Style Weapons”. Not just the AR-15 and all its variants, but AKs, Steyr Aug, FN FAL, semi automatic shotguns, AR and AK style pistols and in case all the rest of the restrictions don’t cover it, semi automatic versions of any automatic firearm and all magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds. What you and I and most reasonable people would call a standard capacity magazine.
So let’s review, H.R. 127 will require you to tell the government what firearms you own, including the make, model and serial number as well as when and where you purchased them and where they are stored. You will need to obtain a license to purchase new firearms or continue to possess the firearms you already own. In order to obtain said license, you will need to submit to a psychological evaluation by an anti-gun psychologist who will interview people who are likely to hate the air you breathe. Some of the most popular weapons in the world, let alone the country, will be banned along with the standard capacity magazines that they come with.
But wait, there’s more.
Under H.R. 127, it will be illegal to possess .50 caliber or greater ammunition. So if you’re a long range shooter and you are fortunate enough to own a .50 caliber rifle, it will be illegal for you to own the ammunition for it.
We’ve been telling you for a while now that they hate you, they hate the constitution and the rights the constitution protects. This bill does nothing to prevent gun violence which is what they’ve been telling us the goal was. Those of us who have been paying attention know that they couldn’t care less about preventing gun violence. H.R. 127 is aimed squarely at law-abiding citizens who own guns. A group of people who are statistically the most law abiding in the country. So the next time someone tells you we’re fear mongering, and no one is trying to take your guns, show them this bill. If passed it will turn most gun owners into felons with the stroke of a pen and subject to lengthy prison sentences and exorbitant fines for exercising our constitutionally protected right to keep and bear arms. Call your representatives and your Senators and let them know that this is unacceptable and implore them to oppose H.R. 127.
