First of all, no one thinks rape is sexy. No one in their right mind anyway. Sexy is the furthest thing from a rape victims mind when recalling such a horrific event. So begs the question is this woman in her right mind? After watching her interviews with Alisyn Camerota and Anderson Cooper, one has to wonder. I mean, she didn’t really believe that accusing the president of the United States of rape wouldn’t get much attention, did she?
I get accused quite a bit of being in the tank for Trump and believing or excusing everything he says and does. I’ve sad many times that he wasn’t my preferred candidate in the 2016 election; but between Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump, I was going to vote against Clinton every time and twice on Sundays. There are a couple of positions that every socialist espouses that I cannot get behind and therefore there is no possibility I could ever vote for one. When it comes to rape, sexual assault etc., that is also something by which I cannot abide.
I tried to take E Jean Carroll’s allegation seriously, as I do whenever someone is accused of such heinous crime. I watched her interviews with Alisyn Camerota and Anderson Cooper – she started strong out of the gate, but she began to lose me pretty quick. Then came the aforementioned gem with Anderson Cooper, which mind you was one of several, but perhaps the most ridiculous. That was also the one that crystallized in my mind the thought that this woman was not the least bit credible. The president doesn’t get a total pass though.
Something else that I have said about president Trump is that he says and tweets things that I really wish he wouldn’t. He doesn’t communicate like a traditional president and in some respects, that is refreshing. In other ways, it’s cringe worthy. His response to Ms. Carroll’s allegation during an interview with The Hill: “I’ll say it with great respect: Number one, she’s not my type. Number two, it never happened. It never happened, OK?” You can say pretty much anything when denying a rape allegation, except that. At the very least lead with “It never happened.” Sigh.
Just like the accusations of racism being leveled against him, which are transparent attempts to smear him and demonstrably false, the accusations of sexual assault always seem to fall apart as well. If any credible accusations surface with corroborating evidence, then by all means, lock him up. After watching Ms. Carroll though, I’m inclined to believe that she is just not credible and possibly not well. Even people who hate Trump, and I know they would never admit this publicly, must know on some level that this woman’s story just doesn’t make any sense.
